Help and Advice

Dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour

Our Neighbourhood Management Team deals with anti-social behaviour that occurs on our estates.

This can include:

  • Drugs
  • Racial harassment
  • Acts or threats of violence
  • Criminal behaviour
  • High level anti-social behaviour
  • Persistent breaches of tenancy

To report an incident of anti-social behaviour, please call us on 0844 770 3500.

What will we do?

We will:

  • take your complaint seriously
  • investigate the problem
  • keep you informed as to what action is being taken
  • work closely with the local Council and the Police to tackle the problem
  • give you details of any other organisations which may be able to offer you help and support.

What can you do to help yourself?

If you can, please put your complaint in writing and keep a diary of events that have occurred. We appreciate that this is time consuming but written accounts of events are invaluable for our team to investigate and take action against those who are causing you problems.

We know that when you come to us for help you have possibly suffered the problem for a while. Please, if you are experiencing problems yet find that it is at a manageable level, keep a record of the incidents. This way, when you turn to us for help, although it will be the first time you have approached us, you will have evidence of past problems. This will help to prove your side of the situation and provide proof that it has been an on-going problem.

We refer to people who keep diaries and keep us informed about events, as witnesses.

What does it mean to be a witness?

As a witness you are our most valuable tool in rectifying the problems of anti-social behaviour. The evidence provided by you is very persuasive and credible. It demonstrates the true distress, annoyance and often suffering which anti-social behaviour can cause.

As a witness you will be asked to keep a record of what has occurred. This information is extremely important to us as it allows us to build a case against those causing the problem.

We appreciate that you may find this a very difficult and distressing time so we have established a system of witness support to help you through it.

How can it help you?

In whatever way you help us with a case, we know that it can be worrying but we will always keep you informed and help you in anyway we can.

If at any point during a case you are feeling unsure, confused or just wanting to talk to someone about it, we are only a phone call away.

What to expect from us

As each case is different, so are the witnesses and their needs. The is no set way in which we will help you as needs differ with each person. For each case we will aim to:

  • introduce ourselves in person so we are not just a voice at the end of the phone
  • answer all your questions as accurately and quickly as possible
  • explain any processes which you maybe unsure about, such as injunctions or mediation
  • keep you informed and up-to-date of any action being taken
  • support you and be with you at any significant points of the case, such as talking to solicitors or going to court.

Please feel free to contact us on 0844 770 3500 and we will try to help you as best as possible.
