Equality & Diversity
At Three Valleys Housing we are committed to providing high quality services that meet the diverse needs of our residents and are delivered in a fair and inclusive manner. We believe that everyone has the right to be treated with respect and fairness and we will ensure that equality and diversity best practice is at the heart of all that we do.
Through our Equality and Diversity Policy we have made a commitment to Equality by ensuring that our policies, procedures and practices provide fair and equal treatment to all.
In addition, we also recognise and celebrate the diversity or differences within the communities in which we work and in our workforce.
Through this dual approach we work towards creating an environment in which everyone receives fair and equal treatment, free from discrimination, harassment and prejudice.
We have achieved many things in connection to equality and diversity over the past two years, including:
- Ensuring that our new office accommodation fully complies with the Disability Discrimination Act;
- Delivering a comprehensive equality and diversity training program to all staff, Board members and resident representatives;
Working towards achieving Investors in Diversity accreditation;
- Providing work experience placements to young people at risk of exclusion through our Jigsaw Project and to young people with learning disabilities through a partnership with Castle College.
Through our many achievements we are proud to have moved our Audit Commission findings from an “area of significant weakness” in October 2006 to an “area where strengths outweigh weaknesses” in their July 2008 report.
