The Independent Housing Ombudsman Scheme deals with disputes between landlords and tenants in England. The Scheme was established under the Housing Act 1996 with jurisdiction over more than 2,000 landlords.
They aim to provide a fair and effective way of dealing with complaints against member landlords from people who receive their services. They also seek redress for complaints, where justified, and identify failings in the services provided by member landlords and can ask them to change their way of working.
